About
I’m just a regular guy who happens to be a baseball junkie. I love the game, and I love the Yankees. I started this blog to share my opinions with other Yankee fans, and anyone interested in the great game of baseball. I will also share my thoughts on other subjects (such as mountain biking) every once in a while, but the majority of this blog will be dedicated to baseball.
“Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country.”
- Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President quote on Hemp
America’s founders held hemp (cannabis sativa) in very high regard. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp on their plantations. Benjamin Franklin started one of America’s first paper mills with cannabis hemp. Betsy Ross utilized hemp fiber in sewing the first American flag. The first and second drafts of the Declaration of Independence were written on hemp paper. So valued was this resource that it was considered legal tender from 1631 until the 1800′s.
Today, hemp could provide four times the amount of paper yielded per acre than trees without requiring the toxic chemicals currently used in the tree-to-paper process. It could also provide a stronger, more durable cloth than cotton without depleting the soil as cotton does. Additionally, the hemp plant is an excellent source of fuel, its seeds are more nutritious than soy beans, ands its therapeutic and medicinal properties have been highly prized since time immemorial.
“Make the most of it.”- George Washington, U.S. President quote on Hemp
As you may be able to tell from looking at the quotes above, I support the legalization of marijuana. I think it is ridiculous that in this day and age the government is putting people in jail for weed. The government needs to stop wasting billions of dollars on a “war” they can’t possibly win. Hemp has so many positive uses, such as it’s medicinal purposes. It seems insane to me that the country has not embraced it, and profited from it. It isn’t just to smoke, though I must admit that is my favorite use. Support legalization!
